Rhodes-Jordan Park

Tonight, after giving the final exam at GGC, I went for a long walk at Rhodes-Jordan Park. Here are a few of the things I saw.

Archery with Elyse

Two years (and a week) after Elyse and I first went to Panola Mountain State Park to visit the archery range, we went back for the same reason.

Anna's New Car

Today, we spent hours at CarMax -- where nearly everything that could go wrong, did go wrong -- replacing the dying 2012 Hyundai Accent, which Anna has been driving for a few years now (for the last few months with the check engine light on), with this new (to us, at least) 2015 Toyota Prius:

Fox is 18!

 Today, Fox Burdett, my first-born child (FB for short), turns eighteen years old!

Snow!

Today we had a (relatively) rare three-inch snowfall! Elyse went out to see it; everybody else mostly just stayed inside. Here are some of the pictures I took (many of them through windows or briefly opened doors) of the event:

Christmas Coffee Cups

Much of the year I feel like the speaker in that famous James Wright poem about lying in the hammock at the farm in Minnesota – "I have wasted my life" – but then the end of November rolls around and I get out the Christmas coffee cups I have amassed over the year – which I am now putting away – and I realize it hasn't been a waste after all.

Squirrel Proof

The blue and yellow seed house is supposed to be squirrel proof--but it is squirrel proof only in the sense that it provides proof that there are squirrels!

Elyse's Second Concert... In Chicago!

This weekend (they flew up yesterday and flew back today) Anna and Elyse went to Chicago to go to the Moonbyul concert!

Elyse is a devotee of K-pop music. When Moonbyul's current concert itinerary did not include Atlanta and Anna offered to take Elyse to a nearby concert location so she could see the show, Elyse jumped at the chance! Here are some of the pictures they texted to me from Chicago:

The Snellville Fall Festival

This afternoon, my first-born child and I went to the Snellville Fall Festival, just a few miles away from where we live in Grayson. Here are a few of the many pictures I took there.

After we walked around for a few minutes, I bought FB a cherry Italian ice.

I finished the Italian ice (Fox was done with it), and then we went to Walmart.

Stone Mountain Park's Historic Square and the Pumpkin Festival

 Today, FB and I went to Stone Mountain Park to visit the "old houses" (the area now called the Historic Square) and go to the Crossroads area (which is currently having its Pumpkin Festival). Here are some of the pictures I took while we were there:

The cats of the Historic Square were a little skittish because of the noises of construction and maintenance; this one, who was hanging out in the General Store which is the entrance to the Historic Square, was minimally skittish and appreciated our attention.
